BTGSA have an dual programming approach of Vuthisa Global Mothers in Leadership Movement comprised of the individual women and mothers in villages from different disciplines from across nine provinces of South Africa and Kwazulu Natal eleven Districts as they are the majority of electoral voters who are bearing the structural faults that results in systems that are brunt of precarious women employment ,unemployment, climate change, Gender, Health, GBV , Waiste Management, Global Peace and Security , Psychosocial Support , Rural women’s rights and Socio-Economic rights.

IZigodi Approach 


‘Izigodi’ is s a territorial unit including several imizi (homesteads) under the leadership of a headman (induna yesigodi). The headmen maintain order in their areas of jurisdiction and are responsible for administering justice. Within the context of this project, Izigodi are villages located in geographically remote communities with limited access to basic municipal services. To advance constitutional democracy Bridging the Gap South Africa have implemented population targeting focused program incorporating resilience strategies in villages / Izigodi with the aim of strengthening the village capacities in designing sustainable programs and aligning with the national and provincial policies and strategies. The Izigodi model aims to showcase an exemplary approach to sustainable community development initiatives by involving the village mothers and fathers and the youth who are vulnerable and always affected by the following:

Women living in rural villages of KwaZulu Natal’s eleven Districts under Izigodi (villages) administrated by the headman (induna) governed by traditional authorities under the local inkosi./ With the context of land ownership women owns about 4% of land since the traditional authority and customary laws still limits the role of women. Despite advances, majority of women and girl the still subject to poverty, unemployment, inequality, gender discrimination, gender-based violence and teenage pregnancy which contributes to the economic, social and political exclusion enhancing the triple challenge of multi-dimensional poverty, inequality and unemployment which has direct, negative impact on women. The KwaZulu Natal women worst affected by poverty, unemployment and other deprivations. These challenges include limited access to landownership, economic opportunities, and decision-making processes.
